What is Heartburn?
A burning sensation in the middle of your chest.
How is it caused?
By acid coming up from your stomach into your gullet.
How can I avoid it?

Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and cut down on fatty foods.
|
|
Avoid bending over.
|
|
Raise the head of your bed so that you sleep slightly propped up. You can do this by
putting blocks under the head of your bed.
|
|
Do not smoke.
|
|
Avoid alcohol or pickled foods if you find these bring it on.
|
|
Avoid being overweight.
|
Are there any medicines that can help?
|
Tablets or liquids that act against acid, like Magnesium Trisilicate mixture
|
|
Tablets that reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces, like cimetidine.
|
